In announcing these appointments, Interim President and CEO Dennis A. Dutterer said, "Mary and Tom each have made outstanding contributions to the CBOT in their respective roles, and they are deserving of these promotions as the Exchange moves forward with its restructuring strategy."
Mary McDonnell has been serving since May as Managing Director and Project Manager of the CBOT/Eurex Alliance, a business alliance between the world's leading open outcry and electronic futures exchanges that, when launched on August 27, would create a joint venture company that would operate a single global electronic trading system. Previously, she had been serving as a consultant to the joint venture after many years of experience in the U.S. futures industry. McDonnell previously worked as Executive Vice President of the Bermuda Commodities Exchange from 1997 through 1999. From 1979 through 1996, she was the Chief Financial and Operating Officer of Griffin Trading, a global futures clearing firm.
Tom Cargie had been managing the CBOT's Market Data Services Department in addition to serving as a senior attorney in the Exchange's legal department. He joined the CBOT in 1996 after working as an Associate at the Chicago law firm of Altheimer & Gray. After graduating from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Cargie was a law clerk to the Honorable Anthony Scariano of the Illinois Appellate Court. The CBOT's Market Data Services Department manages relationships with the Exchange's market data vendors, and represents the Exchange in the information services community.
