CBOT Options On Mini-Sized Dow(SM) Jones Futures Contract Reaches New Open Interest Record; Surpasses 60,000 Mark

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that open interest in its options on mini-sized Dow Jones futures reached a new record on October 4, surpassing the 60,000 mark for the first time.

Open interest in the CBOT's options on mini-sized Dow futures climbed to 61,135 contracts, compared with the prior record of 59,256 contracts reached on September 14. Launched in February 2004, the contract was the first CBOT options on futures product to trade exclusively on the exchange's superior electronic trading platform.

Volume in the CBOT's options on mini-sized Dow futures rose an impressive 355.9 percent in September over the prior month to 94,199 contracts.
