CBOT Names Robert Ray As Vice President

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced the appointment of Robert D. Ray as a Vice President of the exchange. Ray, previously head of listed derivatives with the firm of Robertson Stephens, Inc., will be responsible for the continued growth of the CBOT's equity complex, and will report to Senior Vice President Marty Reiner.

CBOT® President and CEO David J. Vitale said, "As the Chicago Board of Trade has evolved into a more product-oriented exchange, the addition of Bob Ray to our business development team will allow us to put even greater emphasis on strengthening our entire Dow Jones product complex, which already has seen tremendous volume growth."

As a principal at Robertson Stephens, Inc. in Chicago from June 2000, Ray had numerous strategic responsibilities, including directing preparations for the launch of single stock futures. Prior to joining Robertson Stephens, he served as Senior Vice President for Equities and Equity Derivatives with Carr Futures from August 1997 to February 2000. At Carr Futures, Ray established the equity options desk for the firm at the Chicago Board Options Exchange with trading conducted on all U.S. equity and options exchanges, along with expanding the firm's equity sales program to include global clearing and execution services integrating parallel product lines and service throughout the company in order to improve customer service.

From 1986 to 1997, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Equity Derivatives for Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. in Chicago, where he worked to establish the firm's institutional stock index futures group responsible for all aspects of sales, trading and operations for the group. From 1984 to 1986, he was Director of Financial Marketing and Product Development at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He has numerous professional affiliations, including the Futures Industry Association.

Robert Ray holds a bachelor's degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
