In addition, the CBOT mini-sized Dow Jones Options contract set a new daily volume and open interest record yesterday. Daily volume reached 3,295 contracts, breaking the previous record of 1,698 set on March 9, and open interest reached 8,379 contracts, surpassing the previous record level of 7,799 contracts, also set on March 9.
CBOT President and CEO Bernard W. Dan stated, "Yesterday's records in the CBOT mini-sized Dow complex, which trade exclusively on the screen, are examples of market users taking advantage of the speed and reliability provided by the new technology featured on the exchange's electronic trading platform. Our electronic trading functionality, coupled with the increased volatility in the DowSM Index, are attracting a greater number of market participants to our Dow JonesSM complex."
