CBOT Members Surpass 1998 Yearly Volume Record

Date 28/10/2002

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced that its members set a new yearly total exchange volume record, surpassing the exchange's previous volume record of 281,189,436 contracts set in 1998. At the close of business on Friday, October 25, 282,576,220 contracts were traded year-to-date.

CBOT® Chairman Nickolas Neubauer said, "This record, which we will continue to build upon through the rest of the year, is a tribute to our customers, members and member firms, and demonstrates that our hybrid strategy of providing the best open auction and electronic trading platforms is working. Market users are sending the message that for unparalleled liquidity, flexibility and integrity, the CBOT's U.S. Treasury, equity, and agricultural futures and options complexes are the place to trade."
