CBOT Fed Funds Options Volume Surpasses 100,000 Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that volume in the exchange’s Thirty Day Fed Funds options contract surpassed 100,000 contracts to set a new record. On Tuesday, October 26, 2004, volume in Thirty Day Fed Funds options reached 105,951 contracts, shattering the previous record of 89,750 contracts set on April 20, 2004.

CBOT Senior Vice President Robert Ray said, “This volume record in Fed Funds options further demonstrates the CBOT’s role as a leader in delivering crucial risk management tools within a highly liquid and transparent environment. Additionally, Fed Funds options set a new electronic trading volume record, underscoring that the marketplace is becoming more familiar with our trading platform’s superior functionality and ability to execute complicated options transactions.”

Open interest in Ten Year Treasury Note Futures set a new record, climbing to 1,711,041 contracts on October 26 and rising above the previous record of 1,697,077 contracts on October 22.
