The exchange also set a daily volume record in its benchmark Ten-Year U.S. Treasury note futures contract, with 1,555,661 contracts changing hands, versus the prior record of 1,475,974 contracts on May 27.
CBOT President and CEO Bernard W. Dan said, "CBOT market users have again endorsed the exchange's premier electronic trading system by increasing their activity to record levels. The CBOT's platform, through its superior functionality and programs like our Electronic Market Maker Program for U.S. Treasury options, delivers a level of transparency, speed and integrity unavailable elsewhere. Further, confidence in the CBOT's markets is evident exchange-wide, as Tuesday also marked the third highest daily volume record in exchange history."
Electronic volume in CBOT U.S. Treasury products continues to be strong. Ten-Year U.S. Treasury Note futures electronic volume rose to a record 1,244,433 contracts on August 31, beating the prior record of 1,172,785 contracts set on May 7.
