CBOT Commodity And Financial Futures Contracts Set New Open Interest Records - CBOT Precious Metals Complex Open Interest Climbs To New High

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that on Wednesday, March 9, open interest in several of the Exchange’s Commodity and Financial futures contracts rose to new all-time highs.

Open interest in the CBOT Precious Metals complex climbed to a new record at 11,421 contracts, eclipsing the previous record of 11,376 contracts set on January 19, 2005. Within the complex, CBOT full-sized Gold futures rose to a new high of 4,278 contracts, surpassing the prior record of 4,026 contracts set on March 8.

In addition, open interest in CBOT Soybean futures rose to a new record at 289,341 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 288,339 contracts set on March 8. Among CBOT Financial futures contracts, open interest in 5-Year Interest Rate Swap futures climbed to a new peak of 19,459 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 18,635 contracts achieved on December 7, 2004.
