CBOT Appoints Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

The Chicago Board of Trade announced today that it named James P. Amaral, a leading technology consultant and advisor, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, a new position. CBOT President and CEO Thomas R. Donovan said, "Jim will play an important role as a member of our senior management team, as today's technology demands require a CIO to help develop, coordinate and administer critical technology initiatives. In this new position, Jim will work closely with our members and management team on designing technology solutions that benefit our open outcry and electronic markets." Amaral has recently served as an advisor to the CBOT on network and systems issues, including managing all technology activities for the project team that constructed the CBOT's new financial trading floor and building. Amaral founded Innovative Network Solutions Corporation, a technology consulting firm. He has held past positions with IBMCorporation, Wang Laboratories, and Cabletron Systems. He served in the US Navy Submarine Service for 9 years. In separate personnel matter, after 19 years of exceptional dedication and service to the CBOT, Jack H. Stefan, Vice President of Human Resources retired on Friday, February 26. He announced his decision internally last December. No replacement has yet been named.
