These revised trading hours are in recognition of the first anniversary of the events that occurred on September 11, 2001. The CBOT revised these trading hours in coordination with the New York Stock Exchange and the Bond Market Association, along with other futures exchanges and federal regulators.
Following are the details of the CBOT's trading hours on September 11:
Open auction financial products will open at normal time of 7:20 a.m. They will observe minutes of silence at 7:46 a.m. and 9:29 a.m., and close one hour early at 1:00 p.m. Electronic financial products will open at normal time of 8:00 p.m. on September 10 and close early at 1:30 p.m. on September 11. (CBOT electronic market participants are encouraged to observe minutes of silence at 7:46 a.m. and 9:39 a.m.)
Metals contracts will open at normal times of 8:15 p.m. on September 10, observe minutes of silence at 7:46 a.m. and 9:29 a.m., and close at normal time of 1:45 p.m.
Open auction stock index products will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at their normal times of 3:15 p.m. Electronic Dow futures and options ($10 multiplier) will open at their normal times of 8:15 p.m. and close at their normal times of 7:00 a.m. Electronic $5 and $2 Mini-sized DowSM futures will be suspended at 7:00 a.m., resume trading at 10:00 a.m. and trade until their normal close times of 4:00 p.m.
Agricultural products will open at their normal time of 9:30 a.m. and close at their normal time of 1:15 p.m.
