CBOT 30-Year Treasury Bond Options Set Electronic Daily Volume Record; Total Exceeds 80,000 For The First Time

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that its 30-Year Treasury Bond options on futures contract set a record on Thursday, as electronic trading volume surpassed 80,000 contracts at the close of trading. The new record, 81,294 contracts, is 94 percent greater than its predecessor, 41,987 contracts, set on May 12, 2006.

The 30-Year Treasury Bond options on futures contract is part of the CBOT’s highly liquid U.S. Treasury complex, which includes futures and options on futures for 2-year U.S. Treasury Note futures, 5-year U.S. Treasury Note futures, 10-year U.S. Treasury Note futures as well as 30 Day Federal Funds, Binary Options, and 5-year and 10-year Interest Rate Swaps.
