CBOT 30-Day Fed Funds Trade To June 1 Tops 2000 Record

The Chicago Board of Trade’s 30-Day Fed Funds Futures contract volume at 1,428,468 through June 1, 2001, has eclipsed the annual volume record of 1,426,209 traded in all of 2000. The Fed Funds contract is the benchmark instrument for hedging against movement in the Fed Funds rate.

In addition, the CBOT®’s Mortgage Futures contract--launched March 23 this year--set another new open interest record at 3,680 contracts on June 1, beating the old record of 3,675, set on May 30, 2001.
