Trading in 10-Year Treasury Note options reached a record high of 501,856 contracts, surpassing the former daily volume record of 446,585 contracts set March 5, 2004. Open interest in the 10-Year Treasury options contract reached 2,568,416 contracts, above the former record of 2,555,237 contracts set on March 25, 2004.
These records are testimonial to the fact that market users continue to turn to the CBOT to manage the price risk associated with key financial reports on the nation's economy, as on Friday the U.S. Labor Department released employment data showing that the U.S. created 308,000 jobs in March, more than twice the number expected.
