- During October, volume in index options rose 17% as over 11 million contracts traded, while volume in stock option classes (equities) increased 16% with over 21 million contracts traded.
- Options on the S&P 500 Index (SPX) were the most-actively traded index options at CBOE during October as volume totaled 4,485,404 contracts, an increase of 34% over 2003.
- The top five stock option classes traded at CBOE during October were: Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), Viacom Inc. (VIAB), Google Inc. (GOOG), Intel Corp. (INTC), and Delta Air Lines, Inc.(DAL).
- Total volume and open interest reached new highs during October at the CBOE Futures Exchange, which launched on March 26th.October volume totaled 11,126 contracts.Open interest at month's end stood at 10,988 contracts, up 19% from September.CFE began trading futures on the newly created CBOE China Index (CX) on Monday, October 18, 2004.
