CBOE Traded Over 10.1 Million Contracts For The Week Of January 12; Third Highest Weekly Total In Exchange History

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the world's largest options exchange, announced that volume at CBOE last week totaled 10,178,564 contracts. This total represents the third highest weekly volume total in Exchange history. The high mark for all-time weekly volume at CBOE occurred during the week of September 17, 2001 when 11,655,378 contracts were traded.

Total volume for the five business days during the week of January 12th was bolstered by two of the top ten busiest individual trading days in Exchange history. On Friday, January 16th, CBOE experienced its second busiest trading day when a reported volume of 2,581,823 contracts traded, while on Thursday, January 15th, 2,292,256 contracts were reported traded, which ranked as the sixth busiest trading day in Exchange history.
