Date 02/03/2001

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) yesterday announced that on June 1, 2001 it will launch CBOEdirectTM, the exchange's much anticipated screen-based trading platform.

CBOEdirect will list the S&P100® Index options (OEX), Options on the Dow Jones Industrial AverageSM Index (DJX) and the Russell 2000® Index (RUT). The system will be used to trade these products before regular trading hours.

"CBOEdirect is demonstration that CBOE is the leader in trading technology and innovation. We are particularly proud of the fact that the system has been built completely in-house," said William J. Brodsky, CBOE's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Today in a speech for the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago, Brodsky also announced that yesterday CBOE's Board of Directors approved plans for CBOE to trade single stock futures. "We plan to offer the best of both worlds in trading this exciting new product. CBOE stands ready to trade single stock futures on a hybrid system that will meld electronic trading with our state of the art trading floor," said Brodsky.

CBOE, the world's largest options marketplace and the creator of listed options, is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). For additional information about the CBOE and its products, access the CBOE site on the World Wide Web at http://www.cboe.com.
