And yesterday, a seat was sold for $1,750,000. Both seat sales topped the previous record-setting price of $1,700,000 on December 1, 2006.
ear-to-date, CBOE seat prices have risen 103% from the first sale of the year on January 5th for $875,000. Through this morning, a total of 108 CBOE seats have traded so far this year, with 17 trading for $1.5 million or more.
CBOE's Membership Department facilitates the purchase and sale of seats using an auction method in which bids and offers are submitted to the Exchange. When a bid matches an offer, a sale is made.
