CBOE: New DJX Single-Day Volume Record Set

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that a single-day volume record for trading options on the Dow Jones Industrial AverageSM (DJX) was established on Thursday, April 12, when a total of 106,346 contracts (50,568 calls and 55,778 puts) traded.

This is the first time that DJX volume has exceeded 100,000 contracts in a single-day. Last Thursday's volume surpassed the previous record of 98,325 contracts, set on March 22, 2001. Seven of the DJX's top ten trading days have occurred this year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a price-weighted index composed of 30 of the largest, most liquid NYSE and NASDAQ listed stocks. DJX began trading exclusively at CBOE in October 1997.
