CBOE MNX(sm) Sets Single-Day Volume Record

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) celebrated the one-year anniversary of trading the CBOE Mini-NDX (symbol MNXSM) with record setting volume. A single-day volume record in the Nasdaq-100 Index, MNXSM, was established today with an estimated 86,853 contracts trading. The MNX was launched on August 14, 2000 as an exclusive CBOE product.

Today's volume represents a 19.5% increase over the previous single-day volume record of 72,650 contracts (31,001 calls and 41,649 puts), set April 25, 2001.

The MNX is a 1/10th size version of the Nasdaq-100 Index® (NDX)SM, which is a modified capitalization-weighted index composed of 100 of the largest non-financial securities listed on the Nasdaq stock market. Wolverine Trading, L.P. is the Designated Primary Market Maker (DPM) for MNX options. Today was the last trading day for August expiration MNX contracts.
