CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) Experiences The Busiest Day In Its History, Topping Week-Old Record - VIX Futures Sets New High For Single-Day Volume

The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) announced that the Exchange set a new single-day trading record on Wednesday, August 1, as volume totaled 27,907 contracts traded. Yesterday's new record, the busiest day in CFE's three-year history, more than doubled the previous high of 13,553 contracts traded, which was set just four trading days ago on Thursday, July 26. Futures on the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) accounted for 26,846 contracts traded, which was also a new single-day record for VIX futures.

Yesterday's new high in a single trading session comes on the heels of record monthly trading during July as total exchange volume rose 314% over a year-ago to 121,285 contracts traded. Average daily volume during July was 5,775 contracts, an all-time high at CFE.

CFE currently offers futures on seven different contracts, including: the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), CBOE DJIA Volatility Index (VXD), CBOE NASDAQ-100 Volatility Index (VXN), CBOE Russell 2000 Volatility Index (RVX), CBOE S&P 500 3-Month and 12-Month Variance (VT and VA, respectively), and the CBOE S&P 500 BuyWrite Index (BXM).
