CBOE Experiences Busiest Day In History

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that a new record for single day trading volume at the CBOE was established when a total of 2,695,462 contracts traded on Wednesday, April 18. This total volume figure represents an estimated total premium value of $2.5 billion traded on CBOE.

This new record eclipses the previous high of 2,501,747 contracts traded, set on January 19, 2001. Wednesday's volume marks the second time in the twenty-eight year history of the exchange that total volume in a single day of trading has surpassed two and one half million contracts.
