- Three days on the capital market
- Day 1: Closed-door expert debate on challenges faced by the Polish capital market
- Day 2: Practical information on opportunities offered by the capital market
- Day 3: WSE Doors Open Day as part of the Capital Warsaw programme
The first edition of the Capital Market Summit takes place at WSE headquarters from 5 to 7 December. The event is addressed to capital market professionals as well as individuals who have little to do with capital market investments on a daily basis.
“We want to Capital Market Summit to become a major capital market conference in the region. We have jointly created the biggest capital market in this part of Europe; now we should jointly create a regional capital hub. Integrated efforts of the capital market community around that objective are key,” said Adam Maciejewski, President of the Management Board of WSE.
The first day of the Capital Market Summit, “Strategic Ideas” (5 December), is part of the European Financial Congress co-organised by the Warsaw Stock Exchange and is addressed to capital market experts. The goal is to have a debate on the future directions of development of the Polish capital market and its role in the integration of CEE markets.
The second day, “Doing Business” (6 December), aims to present the practical dimension of capital market instruments and to exchange information and experience between investors and existing or prospective issuers. The event agenda includes the presentation of SME Entrepreneurship Leader Awards, experts’ talks on the mechanisms of investing on the exchange, and debates of specialists: “NewConnect – What’s Next?”, “Low Interest Rates v. Bond Market Growth Prospects” and “How Social Media Are Changing Corporate Communications”.
The final day of the Capital Market Summit is the WSE Doors Open Day organised as part of the Capital Warsaw project (7 December). The event combines education with market promotion. It is addressed to inhabitants and visitors of Warsaw and aspires to introduce them to the Exchange and the basics of investing.
“Capital Warsaw is an initiative which promotes the capital market and the city of Warsaw. Warsaw Stock Exchange is still perceived by many people as mysterious, enigmatic, inaccessible. We want to change that: this is the objective of the Doors Open Day and other Capital Warsaw initiatives. We will explain the exchange and the capital market in an everyday language. We realise how important it is to offer education in economics and investing. This is why we have prepared many attractions for our guests of all ages. If only some of them become engaged investors, our mission will be accomplished,” said Mr Maciejewski.
On that special day, the Trading Floor will turn into a fairy-tale land where fairy-tale characters will explain the exchange to kids. Older visitors can follow in the footsteps of professional investors without risking a penny. Participants can attend Exchange School classes, win attractive prizes in the Financial Knowledge Olympics, and visit an exhibition of pre-war securities. A debate entitled “Exchange Is the Capital of Warsaw” devoted to co-operation between WSE and the city government in building a regional capital hub will take place in the main lobby of Centrum Giełdowe. The panellists include the Deputy Mayor of Warsaw Michał Olszewski, the President of the Management Board of WSE Adam Maciejewski, and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of WSE Wiesław Rozłucki.
The Capital Market Summit takes place at WSE headquarters, 4, Książęca St. in Warsaw from 5 to 7 December 2013.
