CalPERS Finance Committee 2004 Chairs Selected

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) today announced the election of the chair and vice chair of its Board of Administration Finance Committee.

Robert F. Carlson was re-elected committee chair. Carlson has been an elected Board member since 1971 and served as Board President from 1976 to 1985 and Vice President from 2000 to 2002. He is elected by and from retired CalPERS members. Carlson retired as Chief Counsel of the California Department of Transportation in 1985.

George Diehr was elected vice chair of the committee. Dr. Diehr is professor of management science in the College of Business Administration at California State University, San Marcos. He was elected to the CalPERS Board in 2002 as a representative of State employees including California State University employees.

Other Finance Committee members are: Philip Angelides, Willie Brown Jr., Priya Mathur, Charles Valdes, and Steve Westly.

CalPERS is the largest public pension system in the U.S. with more than $165 billion in assets. It administers retirement and health benefits for 1.4 million state and local government employees, retirees, and their families.
