CalPERS Board Member Henry Jones Appointed To Pacific Pension Institute Board

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) today announced that Board Member Henry Jones has joined the Board of the Pacific Pension Institute (PPI). Jones began his two-year term on February 27 and will replace Joe Dear, CalPERS Chief Investment Officer, on the PPI Board.

PPI is a member-driven, nonprofit, educational organization that assists pension funds, corporations, financial institutions and endowments worldwide with carrying out their fiduciary responsibilities, especially with respect to Asia and the Pacific region.

“Henry is a tireless champion of the members he represents at CalPERS and as our Board’s Diversity Representative, I can’t think of a better person to join PPI,” said Rob Feckner, President of the CalPERS Board. “I know he will bring that dedication and commitment with him to the PPI Board and their work with investors in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Jones, a Personnel Commissioner for the Los Angeles Community College District, has represented retired CalPERS members on the CalPERS Board since 2008. He is the current Chair of the Board’s Investment Committee, and a member of the Board Governance, Finance & Administration, Pension & Health Benefits, and Risk & Audit committees.

“I’m honored to be appointed to the PPI Board,” said Jones. “The PPI has long been a respected advocate and resource for Asia-Pacific investment, and I’m excited to begin working with the organization.”
