The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) Board of Administration this week elected the following chairs and vice chairs for key Board committees:

Investment Committee – George Diehr, Chair; Tony Oliveira, Vice Chair. Dr. Diehr was elected to the Board in 2002 by State employees, including employees of the California State University system. He was re-elected for a second 4-year term in 2006. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board. Dr. Diehr has been on the faculty of the College of Business Administration at California State University, San Marcos since 1990. Oliveira, Kings County Supervisor, District 3, was reappointed as the Local Government Representative to the CalPERS Board of Administration in February of 2007 by Governor Schwarzenegger. He represents more than 1,000 local government agencies. He is President of the California State Association of Counties.
Other Investment Committee members are: John Chiang, Patricia Clarey, Dan Dunmoyer, Debbie Endsley, Rob Feckner, JJ Jelincic, Henry Jones, Bill Lockyer, Priya Mathur, Louis F. Moret, and Kurato Shimada.

Benefits and Program Administration Committee – Kurato Shimada, Chair; Rob Feckner, Vice Chair. Shimada was recently re-elected to the CalPERS Board in 2009 as a representative of all CalPERS members. He retired in 1999 as Supervisor of Operations for the Oak Grove School District in San Jose. Feckner is serving his sixth term as the CalPERS Board President. He is elected by classified school employees and has been a Board member since 1999.

Health Benefits Committee – Priya Mathur, Chair; Tony Oliveira, Vice Chair. Mathur was elected to the Board in 2003 by public agency members and is a principal financial analyst for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District.
Other Health Benefits Committee members are: John Chiang, George Diehr, Debbie Endsley, Rob Feckner, JJ Jelincic, Henry Jones, and Bill Lockyer.

Performance and Compensation Committee – Patricia Clarey, Chair; Dan Dunmoyer, Vice Chair. Clarey represents the State Personnel Board on the CalPERS Board of Administration. She currently serves as Senior Vice‐President and Chief Regulatory & External Relations Officer for Health Net, Inc. Dunmoyer was appointed to the CalPERS Board of Administration in April 2009 by Governor Schwarzenegger to serve as the Board’s insurance industry representative. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Head of State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs in the United States for the Farmers Insurance Groups of Companies and Zurich Financial Services.

Finance Committee – Henry Jones, Chair; Louis F. Moret, Vice Chair. Jones was elected to the Board in December 2007 by retired members. He retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1998 as Chief Financial Officer. Dr. Moret was appointed to a four-year term to the Board of Administration in 2008 by the Assembly Speaker and the State Senate Rules Committee and the Assembly. He represents CalPERS on the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) where he is co-chair of the Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee. He is also a former board member of the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension Board.
Other Finance Committee members include: John Chiang, JJ Jelincic, Bill Lockyer, Tony Oliveira, and Kurato Shimada.
Last month, the full Board re-elected Rob Feckner as President, and George Diehr as Vice President.
Election of the Chair and Vice Chair for the Policy Subcommittee of the System’s Investment Committee will take place at the CalPERS April 19, 2010 committee meeting. Current members of the committee include: George Diehr, Patricia Clarey, JJ Jelincic, Priya Mathur, and Louis F. Moret.
