The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) Board of Administration this week elected the following chairs and vice chairs for key Board committees:

Investment Committee – George Diehr, Chair; Priya Mathur, Vice Chair.
Diehr was elected to the Board in 2003 by State employees, including employees of the California State University system. He is a professor of management science in the College of Business Administration at California State University, San Marcos. Mathur was elected to the Board in 2003 by public agency members and is a principal financial analyst for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District.
Other Investment Committee members are: Marjorie Berte, John Chiang, Patricia Clarey, Rob Feckner, David Gilb, Henry Jones, Bill Lockyer, Louis F. Moret, Tony Oliveira, Kurato Shimada, and Charles Valdes.

Performance and Compensation Committee – Louis F. Moret, Chair, and Priya Mathur, Vice Chair.
Dr. Moret was appointed to the Board in February 2008 by the Assembly Speaker, the State Senate Rules Committee, and the Assembly.
Other Performance and Compensation Committee members are: George Diehr, David Gilb, Tony Oliveira, Kurato Shimada, and Charles Valdes.

Benefits and Program Administration Committee – Kurato Shimada, Chair; Rob Feckner, Vice Chair.
Shimada was re-elected to the CalPERS Board in 2006 as a representative of all CalPERS members. He retired in 1998 as Supervisor of Operations for the Oak Grove School District in San Jose. Feckner is the current Board President. He is elected by classified school employees and has been a Board member since 1999.

Other Health Benefits Committee members are: John Chiang, Rob Feckner, David Gilb, Henry Jones, Bill Lockyer, Tony Oliveira, and Kurato Shimada.

Finance Committee – Tony Oliveira, Chair; Henry Jones, Vice Chair.
Oliveira was appointed to the Board in September 2005 as the Local Government Representative by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He represents more than 1,000 local government agencies. Jones was elected to the Board in December 2007 by retired members. He retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1998 as Chief Financial Officer.
Other Finance Committee members include: John Chiang, Patricia Clarey, Bill Lockyer, Louis F. Moret, and Kurato Shimada.
Last month, the full Board re-elected Rob Feckner as President and George Diehr as Vice President.
Election of the Chair and Vice Chair for the Policy Subcommittee of the System’s Investment Committee will take place at the CalPERS April 17 committee meeting. Current members of the committee include: Henry Jones, Chair; George Diehr, Vice Chair, Patricia Clarey, Louis F. Moret, and Charles Valdes.
