Date 25/05/2010

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) today announced the appointment of Dale Jablonsky as Assistant Executive Officer of the pension fund’s Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB).

Jablonsky will direct the overall administration of ITSB and oversee CalPERS legacy modernization project and business transformation effort. He will play a critical role in setting strategic information technology direction and policies that align with the enterprise business goals and objectives and mitigate technological risk.

Jablonsky replaces Teri Bennett who is retiring at the end of June. He will report to Steve Kessler, Deputy Executive Officer, Operations. “Dale has extensive experience in the information technology industry. He will be a welcome asset to help us develop the best technology solutions to meet the needs of our members and employers,” said Kessler.

Jablonsky joins CalPERS with more than 25 years of technology management experience at the Employment Development Department (EDD). He is currently the Chief Information Officer for EDD and Deputy Director over their Information Technology (IT) Branch. Jablonsky oversees a staff of 700 IT professionals, an annual budget of over $125 million and a large portfolio of legacy modernization projects.

“I’m thrilled to be selected for this very coveted Chief Information Officer position in state government,” said Jablonsky. “The legacy reengineering projects at EDD are on track and I leave them in good hands for a successful completion.”

He was selected from a pool of 17 candidates for this position. His appointment becomes effective August 2, 2010, allowing for a smooth transition to ensure successful management of EDD’s ongoing information technology projects.

Jablonsky attended the University of Nevada, Reno and California State University, Sacramento with a concentration in Business Administration and Management Information Science.
