Turnover
Total number of trading days in September 2004 amounted to 22 days with total value traded of LE 4,450.41 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 3,791.84 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 99.95%, 0.05% and 0% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 658.57 million, which represents 15% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to August 2004, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 2,635.41 million, of which shares represented 99.91%, bonds 0.02% and funds 0.07%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 901.55 million i.e. 25% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 3,536.96 million.
Total volume traded (shares & bonds) for this month reached 156.02 million securities.
During September 2004, 178,236 transactions were concluded with an average of 8,102 trades per day, as opposed to 140,463 transactions and an average of 6,107 trades per day in August 2004.
Indices
CASE 30 Price, the official market index, witnessed a 19.25% increase in September to reach 2089.81 points and witnessed a 115.09% increase on YoY.
However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 21.40% increase in September, to close at 230.76 points on 30/9/2004, and a 112.55% increase on a YoY basis.
