Listing

Total number of listed companies on CASE in October 2006 decreased to 626 companies as opposed to 632 in the previous month.

There was one new listed company this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 22 million (LE 125 million).

Turnover

Total number of trading days in October 2006 amounted to 18 days with total value traded of US$ 3,150 million (LE 18,113 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 2,937 million (LE 16,890 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 98.96%, 1.04% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 213 million (LE 1,223 million), which represents 7% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to September 2006, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 2,766 million (LE 15,903 million), of which shares represented 98.26%, bonds 1.74% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 168 million (LE 969 million) i.e. 6% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$ 2,934 million (LE 16,872 million).

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 507 million securities.

During October 2006, 376,889 transactions were concluded with an average of 20,938 trades per day, as opposed to 543,762 transactions and an average of 27,188 trades per day in September 2006.

Indices

CASE 30 Price index, the official market index, witnessed a 2.6% increase in October 2006 to reach 6609.54 points and witnessed a 17.6% increase on YoY.

However, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 1.7% increase in October, to close at 1461.98 points on 31/10/2006, and a 22.7% increase on a YoY basis.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks represented 64.09% of the total volume of shares traded and 40.47% of total value of shares traded for the month.

During the month of October, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Ready Mix Beton (Egypt) (+900%), Ready Mix Beton (+900%), Prime Capital Portfolio Managers (+215%), National Glass & Crystal Co. (+128%) and Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt - In EGP (+128%).

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Egyptian Iron & Steel (-18%), PIRAEUS Bank Egypt (-14%), Vodafone Egypt Telecommunications (-8%), Misr Hotels (Hilton) (-8%) and Sharm Dreams Co. for Tourism Investment (-8%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 86.3 billion (LE 496.2 billion) as of end of October 2006 compared to US$ 84.6 billion (LE 486.6 billion) in September 2006, representing a 2% increase.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 0.8 billion (LE 4.7 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 10.3 billion (LE 59.3 billion) for government bonds at the end of October 2006 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In October 2006, foreign investors participated with 28.4% of the total market value traded with a net outflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 452 million (LE 2.6 billion).

Note:
This month has witnessed the conclusion of the 23.5% acquisition of Vodafone Egypt by Telecom Egypt, with a total volume of 56 million shares, in a deal worth LE 5.6 billion.
