Listing

Total number of listed companies on CASE in November 2004 increased to 793 companies as opposed to 790 in the previous month.

Two companies were listed this month with total capitalization of LE 47.66 million.

Turnover

Total number of trading days in November 2004 amounted to 20 days with total value traded of LE 4,817.12 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 4,310.56 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 73.71%, 26.27% and 0.02% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 506.56 million, which represents 11% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to October 2004, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 2,344.03 million, of which shares represented 99.95%, bonds 0.05% and funds 0.0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 591.99 million i.e. 20% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 2,936.02 million.

Total volume traded (shares & bonds) for this month reached 138.88 million securities.

During November 2004, 157,332 transactions were concluded with an average of 7,867 trades per day, as opposed to 109,623 transactions and an average of 5,481 trades per day in October 2004.

Indices

CASE 30 Price, the official market index, witnessed a 2.87% increase in November to reach 2361.95 points and witnessed a 113.81% increase on YoY.

However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 0.65% increase in November, to close at 253.98 points on 30/11/2004, and a 108.67% increase on a YoY basis.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks represented 59.82% of the total volume of shares traded and 66.61% of total value of shares traded for the month.

During the month of November, the top ten gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Mansoura For Resins and Chemical Industries CO. (+200%), El Ezz Steel Rebars (+75%), Alexandria National Iron & Steel (+72%), El Ezz Porcelain (Gemma) (+59%), Egyptian Iron & Steel (+59%), Misr Fertilizers (+55%), Egyptian Financial Group-Hermes Holding Company (+54%), Export Development Trading Co. (+48%), Canal Shipping Agencies (+35%) and National Cement (+35%).

The top ten losers were (in ascending order of price change) Alexandria Commercial & Maritime Bank (-14%), National Glass & Crystal Co. (-14%), Egyptian Starch & Glucose (-13%), Commercial International Investment Company (CIIC) (-10%), Nile Cotton Ginning (-9%), Eastern Tobacco (-8%), Development & Engineering Consultants (-8%), Suez Canal Bank (-6%), El Ahli Investment and Development (-6%) and Delta Insurance (-5%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to LE 223.83 billion as of end of November 2004 compared to LE 211.16 billion in October 2004, representing a 6% increase.

The bond capitalization recorded LE 5.32 billion for corporate bonds and LE 14.49 billion for government bonds at the end of November 2004.

Foreign Participation

In November, foreign investors participated with 20.51% of the total market value traded with net inflows of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 35.63 million.
