Total number of trading days in May 2007 amounted to 22 days with total value traded of US$ 5,308 million (LE 30,253 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,785 million (LE27,273 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 90.71%, 9.29% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 523 million (LE 2,980 million), which represents 10% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to April 2007, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 2,982 million (LE 16,998 million), of which shares represented 79.27%, bonds 20.73% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 178 million (LE 1,012 million) i.e. 6 % of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$ 3,160 million (LE 18,009 million).
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 942 million securities.
During May 2007, 896,373 transactions were concluded with an average of 40,744trades per day, as opposed to 541,812 transactions and an average of 30,101 trades per day in April 2007.
Indices
CASE 30 price index, the official market index, witnessed a 4.60% increase in May 2007 to reach 7769.63 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 44.86%.
Likewise, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 3.99% increase in May, to close at 1651.11 points on 31/5/2007, and a 36.32% increase on a YoY basis.

During the month of May, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Ceramic & Porcelain (+152%), Ismailia National Food Industries (+151%), Nasr Company for Civil Works (+141%), Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad) (+141%) and Egyptians Housing Development & Reconstruction (+139%).
The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Lecico Egypt (-55%), Delta Construction & Rebuilding (-16%), Egyptian for Tourism Resorts (-13%), El Nasr Clothes & Textiles (Kabo) (-13%) and Giza General Contracting (-13%).
Market Capitalization
Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 105 billion (LE 596 billion) as of end of May 2007 compared to US$ 98 billion (LE 556 billion) in April 2007, representing a 7.2% increase.
The bond capitalization recorded US$ 690 million (LE 4 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 10 billion (LE 58 billion) for government bonds at the end of May 2007 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).
Foreign Participation
In May 2007, foreign investors participated with 29% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 151 million (LE 858 million).
