Total number of trading days in May 2004 amounted to 21days with total value traded of LE 3,469.13 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 3,152.93 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 99.6%, 0.4% and 0% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 316.20 million, which represents 9% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to April 2004, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 2,633.53 million, of which shares represented 99.8%, bonds 0.2% and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 1,087.60 million i.e. 29% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 3,721.13 million.
Total volume traded (shares & bonds) for this month reached 211.47 million securities.
During May 2004, 151,745 transactions were concluded with an average of 7,242 trades per day, as opposed to 159,835 transactions and an average of 8,880 trades per day in April 2004.
Indices
CASE 30 Price, the official market index, witnessed a 8.01% decrease in May to reach 1412.22 points and witnessed a 90.36% increase on YoY.
However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 8.35% decrease in May, to close at 154.288 points on 31/5/2004, and a 79.38% increase on a YoY basis.
