Total number of listed companies on CASE in March 2007 decreased to 565 companies as opposed to 572 in the previous month.
There were two new listed companies this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 98 million (LE 560 million).
Turnover
Total number of trading days in March 2007 amounted to 21 days with total value traded of US$ 4,427 million (LE 25,232 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,007 million (LE 22,839 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 90.65 %, 9.32% and 0.03%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 420 million (LE 2,393 million), which represents 9.5 % of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to February 2007, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 3,260 million (LE 18,585 million), of which shares represented 92.21%, bonds 7.79% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 272 million (LE 1,550 million) i.e. 8% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$ 3,532 million (LE 20,135 million).
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 912 million securities.
During March 2007, 779,697 transactions were concluded with an average of 37,128 trades per day, as opposed to 641,953 transactions and an average of 32,098 trades per day in February 2007.
Indices
CASE 30 price index, the official market index, witnessed a 0.37% increase in March 2007 to reach 7191.90 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 6.27%.
However, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 0.94% decrease in March, to close at 1552.94 points on 29/3/2007, and a 0.47% increase on a YoY basis.

The ten most active stocks represented 60% of the total volume of shares traded and 51.11% of total value of shares traded for the month.
During the month of March, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Plastichem (+804%), International Co. for Investment & Development (+112%), Blom Bank Egypt (+106%), Ceramic & Porcelain (+100%) and Sperea Misr Plastics & Chemicals (+90%).
The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Extracted Oils (-35%), United Arab Shipping (-34%), Giza General Contracting (-29%), Housing & Development Bank (-17%) and Suez Cement (-14%).
Market Capitalization
Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 96.1 billion (LE 548 billion) as of end of March 2007 compared to US$ 94.4 billion (LE 538 billion) in February 2007, representing a 1.9% increase.
The bond capitalization recorded US$ 690 million (LE 3.9 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 10 billion (LE 56.9 billion) for government bonds at the end of March 2007 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).
Foreign Participation
In March 2007, foreign investors participated with 29.69% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 142 million (LE 809 million).
