Listing

Total number of listed companies on CASE in June 2005 increased to 770 companies as opposed to 767 in the previous month.

Two companies were listed this month with total capitalization of LE 415 million.

Turnover

Total number of trading days in June 2005 amounted to 22 days with total value traded of LE 11,938.51 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 11,178.89 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 86.26%, 13.73% and 0.01% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 759.62 million, which represents 6% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to May 2005, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 8,383.68 million, of which shares represented 89.51%, bonds 10.49% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 792.96 million i.e. 9% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 9,176.64 million.

Total volume traded (shares & bonds) for this month reached 236.58 million securities.

During June 2005, 286,168 transactions were concluded with an average of 13,008 trades per day, as opposed to 208,531 transactions and an average of 9,930 trades per day in May 2005.

Indices

CASE 30 Price, the official market index, witnessed a 12.57% increase in June 2005 to reach 4828.66 points and witnessed a 235.12% increase on YoY.

However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 13.99% increase in June, to close at 573.05 points on 30/06/2005, and a 266.20% increase on a YoY basis.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks represented 54.32% of the total volume of shares traded and 61.53% of total value of shares traded for the month.

During the month of June, the top ten gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Egyptian Commercial Bank (+64%), South Valley Cement (+31%), Rakta Paper Manufacturing (+28%), Egyptian Gulf Bank (+28%), El Ezz Steel Rebars (+26%), Egyptian American Bank (EAB) (+24%), Olympic Group Financial Investments (+23%), Heliopolis Housing (+22%), El Watany Bank of Egypt (+21%) and Egyptian Financial Group-Hermes Holding Company (21%).

The top ten losers were (in ascending order of price change) Al Ahly Real Estate Development (-27%), Engineering Industries (ICON) (-21%), Six of October Development & Investment (SODIC) (-12%), National Glass & Crystal Co. (-12%), Egypt for Poultry (-11%), Alexandria Cement (-10%), Development & Engineering Consultants (-10%), Alexandria Medical Services (-9%), Egyptian Iron & Steel (-8%) and Alexandria Pharmaceuticals (-8%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to LE 337.06 billion as of end of June 2005 compared to LE 304.66 billion in May 2005, representing a 10.6% increase.

The bond capitalization recorded LE 6.38 billion for corporate bonds and LE 29.34 billion for government bonds at the end of June 2005 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In June 2005, foreign investors participated with 29.89% of the total market value traded with net inflows of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 1,139 million.
