Turnover
Total number of trading days in June 2004 amounted to 22 days with total value traded of LE 1,946.07 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 1,669.48 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 97.1%, 2.9% and 0% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 276.69 million, which represents 14% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to May 2004, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 3,152.93 million, of which shares represented 99.6%, bonds 0.4% and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 316.20 million i.e. 9% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 3,469.13 million.
Total volume traded (shares & bonds) for this month reached 117.47 million securities.
During June 2004, 112,277 transactions were concluded with an average of 5,113 trades per day, as opposed to 151,745 transactions and an average of 7,242 trades per day in May 2004.
Indices
CASE 30 Price, the official market index, witnessed a 2.03% increase in June to reach 1440.86 points and witnessed a 85.71% increase on YoY.
However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 1.43% increase in June, to close at 156.488 points on 30/6/2004, and a 75.36% increase on a YoY basis.

During the month of June, the top ten gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) South Valley Cement (+16%), Egyptian Starch & Glucose (+16%), aic (+15%), Egypt Aluminum (+14%), Nile Matches (+13%), Misr Cement (Qena) (+11%), Misr Beni Suef Cement (+10%), Technopak (+10%), Misr Oils & Soap (+10%) and El Nasr Clothes & Textiles (Kabo) (+8%).

The bond capitalization recorded LE 5.59 billion for corporate bonds and LE 14.66 billion for government bonds at the end of June 2004.

In June, foreign investors participated with 18% of the total market value traded with net outflows of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 121.55 million.
