Listing

Total number of listed companies on CASE in April 2007 decreased to 558 companies as opposed to 565 in the previous month.

There was one new listed company this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 0.9 million (LE 5 million).

Turnover

Total number of trading days in April 2007 amounted to 18 days with total value traded of US$ 3,160 million (LE 18,009 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 2,982 million (LE 16,998 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 79.27%, 20.73% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 178 million (LE 1,012 million), which represents 6% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to March 2007, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,007 million (LE 22,839 million), of which shares represented 90.65%, bonds 9.32% and funds 0.03%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 420 million (LE 2,393 million) i.e. 9.5% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$ 4,427 million (LE 25,232 million).

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 562 million securities.

During April 2007, 541,812 transactions were concluded with an average of 30,101 trades per day, as opposed to 779,697 transactions and an average of 37,128 trades per day in March 2007.

Indices

CASE 30 price index, the official market index, witnessed a 3.29% increase in April 2007 to reach 7428.19 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 11.98%.

Likewise, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 2.47% increase in April, to close at 1591.32 points on 30/4/2007, and a 5.84% increase on a YoY basis.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks represented 56.1% of the total volume of shares traded and 51.2% of total value of shares traded for the month.

During the month of April, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) El Arabia for Projects & Construction Development Co. (+174%), C I Capital Holding (+160%), Egyptians Housing Development & Reconstruction (+136%), El Nasr Transformers (El Maco) (+70%) and Egyptians Abroad for Investment & Development (+69%).

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) National Development Bank (-52%), Alexandria Commercial & Maritime Bank (-16%), Arab Pharmaceuticals (-16%), Misr Hotels (-14%) and Naeem Holding (-13%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 97.5 billion (LE 556 billion) as of end of April 2007 compared to US$ 96.14 billion (LE 548 billion) in March 2007, representing a 1.4 % increase.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 690 million (LE 4 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 10 billion (LE 59 billion) for government bonds at the end of April 2007 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In April 2007, foreign investors participated with 28.4% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 200 million (LE 1,142 million).
