Listing

Total number of listed companies on CASE in April 2006 decreased to 694 companies as opposed to 700 in the previous month.

There were no new listed companies this month.

Turnover

Total number of trading days in April 2006 amounted to 17 days with total value traded of LE 21,644.84 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 20,450.18 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 98.46%, 1.54% and 0.00% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 1,194.66 million, which represents 6% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to March 2006, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 21,925.47 million, of which shares represented 91.96%, bonds 8.04% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 2,235.67 million i.e. 9% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 24,161.14 million.

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 458.37 million securities.

During April 2006, 437,078 transactions were concluded with an average of 25,710 trades per day, as opposed to 566,277 transactions and an average of 25,740 trades per day in March 2006.

Indices

CASE 30 Price index, the official market index, witnessed a 1.98% decrease in April 2006 to reach 6633.71 points and witnessed a 58.44% increase on YoY.

However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 1.95% decrease in April, to close at 767.6 points on 30/04/2006, and a 59.20% increase on a YoY basis.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks represented 78.39% of the total volume of shares traded and 79.50% of total value of shares traded for the month.

During the month of April, the top ten gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Gulf Canadian Real Estate Investment Co. (+128%), Arab Gulf Investment (+105%), South Valley Cement (+70%), Mena Touristic & Real Estate Investment (+44%), Tenth of Ramadan Spinning Industries (+35%), United Pharmacists (+34%), Heliopolis Housing (+33%), Egyptian Electrical Cables (+27%), Six of October Development & Investment (SODIC) (+25%) and United Arab Shipping (+24%).

The top ten losers were (in ascending order of price change) PIRAEUS Bank Egypt (-35%), Nasr Company for Civil Works (-20%), Bisco Misr (-18%), Development & Engineering Consultants (-16%), El Shams Housing & Urbanization (-14%), El Ezz Porcelain (Gemma) (-10%), Egyptian International Tourism Projects (-10%), Ceramic & Porcelain (-10%), Alexandria Containers and goods (-8%) and Raya Holding for Technology and Communications (-8%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to LE 442.84 billion as of end of April 2006 compared to LE 449.57 billion in March 2006, representing a 1.5% decrease.

The bond capitalization recorded LE 5.84 billion for corporate bonds and LE 57.74 billion for government bonds at the end of April 2006 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In April 2006, foreign investors participated with 48.28% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 263 million.
