Turnover
Total number of trading days in April 2003 amounted to 20 days with total value traded of LE 2,534.6 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 1,957.0 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 83.5%, 16.5% and 0.0% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 577.6 million, a 200% increase compared to the month before, and a 4.7% decline to April 2002.
This is in comparison to March 2003, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 757.92 million, of which shares represented 77.60%, bonds 22.35% and funds 0.01%.
In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 192.35 million i.e. 20% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 950.26 million.
Total volume traded (shares & bonds) for this month reached 81.53 million securities.
During April 2003, 86,836 transactions were concluded with an average of 4,342 trades per day.
Indices
CASE 30 Price, the official market index, gained 13.9% in April to reach 641.97 points and witnessed a 35.4% increase on YoY.
However, the S&P/IFCG index witnessed a 9.5% rise in April, to close at 41.18 points on 30/4/2003, and a 2.4% decrease on a YoY basis.

Total market capitalization of all securities amounted to LE 141.89 billion as of end of April 2003 compared to LE 137.20 billion in March 2003, representing a slight 3.4% increase.
The bond capitalization recorded LE 5.66 billion for corporate bonds and LE 14.04 billion for government bonds at the end of April 2003.
Foreign Participation
In April, foreign investors participated with 39.39% of the total market value traded with net inflows of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 534.7 million.
