NYFIX, Inc. (Nasdaq: NYFX), (“NYFIX” or the “Company”), a trusted provider of innovative solutions that optimize trading efficiency, announced today that C. Thomas Richardson will be joining NYFIX as Global Head of Transaction Services. In this newly created position, Richardson will oversee management of the company's suite of electronic execution products and services, including NYFIX's Millennium ATS dark pool, the soon to be launched Euro Millennium dark pool, and the company's algorithmic trading and other agency brokerage services. Additionally, he will be involved in strategic development activities for NYFIX.
"We're pleased to welcome Tom aboard and excited about what this means for the long-term growth of NYFIX," said Howard Edelstein, CEO of NYFIX, Inc. “Tom's core strengths and knowledge of the industry will perfectly complement our existing Transactions Services team which will continue to be managed on a day-to-day basis in the US by Brian Carr and Tony Portelli and in Europe by Chris Smith and Paul Kelly. I’m confident that this outstanding team will build upon our recent successes and advance our strategy to expand into new geographies and new instruments, and increase market penetration on both the buy-side and sell-side."
Mr. Richardson is currently Executive Vice President of the Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) where he is responsible for Corporate Strategy, including managing the sale of the company to NASDAQ. Prior to that, Mr. Richardson was a 13-year veteran of Citi's Corporate Investment Bank, most recently acting as Managing Director of US Equities. While at Citi, Richardson headed up strategic development, analyzed and provided guidance on market structure developments, architected the firm's equity trading platform, and advised on a number of strategic acquisitions and business development deals.
Mr. Richardson will be joining NYFIX once NASDAQ’s acquisition of the BSE, announced in October 2007, is completed. Until that time he will continue in his role at the BSE and consult for NYFIX.
“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to join NYFIX, a company that is well positioned to take advantage of emerging market structure changes both in the US and in Europe,” said Richardson. “Having spent a dozen years on the trading side of the business, I look forward to adding my unique perspective and contributing to the firm’s strategic development while working with the talented team that is currently in place to take NYFIX’s transaction services to the next level.”
