Business Steady For Euronext Paris

Equity trading at Euronext Paris averaged EUR 5.17 billion a day in June, showing little change from EUR 5.2 billion in the previous month. The total traded through Paris Euronext systems over 20 trading days in June was EUR 103.36 billion.

The peak for the month was EUR 8.24 billion on June 28 and the low EUR 3.61 billion on June 18.

Trades through Euronext Paris market systems totalled 6,589,280 after 7,334,300 in May. This set the daily average at 329,464, down 1.17% from 333,377 the previous month. The busiest day was June 15 with 411,342 trades and the slowest June 27 with 274,096.

The decline in the number of trades eased to 12.95% for the first six months compared with 16% in the first quarter. The decline from the average for 2000 was limited to 6.14%. In contrast, amounts traded were up to an average of EUR 5.16 billion a day, showing rises of 11.44% from EUR 4.63 billion in the furst half of 2000 and 12.17% from the average for 2000 as a whole.

Eight new companies were listed on Euronext Paris regulated markets in June - Nexans; Générale de Santé and JC Decaux SA on the Premier Marché, SAM and Setforge on the Second Marché, and Millimages, Carrere Group and Tiscali SPA on the Nouveau Marché.

At June 30, 2001, capitalization of French companies listed on the Premier, Second and Nouveau Marchés totalled EUR 1446 billion.
