Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or “the Exchange”) is having the Bursa Marketplace Fair at Persada Johor International Convention Centre in Johor Bahru on Saturday, 5 August 2023.
The event, which will be graced by Deputy Minister of Finance I, YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, aims to reach and engage the local investing community of all ages, providing investing awareness and education on various opportunities in both the conventional and Shariah equity markets as well as derivatives market. Many investing programmes, tools, and solutions that are available from Bursa Malaysia and industry players will also be featured. The event is supported by various parties in the capital market ecosystem - from brokerages, financial institutions, public-listed companies, to market regulators.
It will be the first time the event is held in Malaysia’s southern region. This will be the second physical Marketplace Fair that takes place outside Kuala Lumpur, following the Penang event in 2019, and the virtual editions in 2021 and 2022. The fair this year in Johor is expected to draw over 5,000 participants.
In 2022, Johor recorded the second highest number of individual CDS accounts opened with 13,860 new joiners, representing 13.9 percent of the total 99,607 CDS accounts created nationwide. Overall, Johor is also the state with the third-highest number of active retail investors from a total of 1.4 million active retail investor accounts nationwide.
