A delegation from Bursa Malaysia, the national stock exchange of Malaysia, visited the Luxembourg Stock Exchange on Thursday, 25 February 2010.
This delegation was composed of Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, Global Head of Islamic Markets, Zul Mustafa, Head Strategy Management Office, and Azlan Abdul jalil, Assistant Vice President Islamic Markets. The delegation was welcomed by Hubert Grignon Dumoulin, Head of the Securities and Issuers department and Christian Descoups, General Secretary.
During the meeting the Malaysian delegates had an exchange of views with their Luxembourg counterparts on opportunities for future cooperation between the two exchanges.
Both exchanges are very active in providing services for issuers of Islamic securities, with the Luxembourg Stock Exchange being a leading European centre for the listing of sukuk, shariah-compliant debt securities.
The Malaysian delegation was also in Luxembourg to contribute to a conference entitled “Malaysia-Luxembourg: A bridge for Islamic finance”, organized by the Luxembourg University and LuxembourgforFinance on 24 February 2010. Hubert Grignon Dumoulin of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange spoke at this conference.
