Bursa Malaysia: Update In Kuala Lumpur Syariah Index (KLSI) Components

Bursa Malaysia (the Exchange) is updating the component stocks of the Kuala Lumpur Syariah Index (KLSI) in line with the revised list of approved securities issued by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission on 30 April 2004. The component stocks update to the KLSI will come into effect on Monday, 31 May 2004.

The new component stocks to be included in the KLSI are:

There are a total of 12 companies to be removed from the KLSI.

The KLSI is a weighted-average index with its component stocks made up of Main Board companies designated as Syariah approved securities by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission. With the latest update, there will be 442 Main Board companies which form the components of the KLSI.

The KLSI was launched on 17 April 1999 to meet the increasing demand by local and foreign investors seeking to invest in securities and instruments which are in line with Syariah principles.
