Bursa Malaysia: Update In KLSE Syariah Index (KLSI) Components

Bursa Malaysia today announced the changes in the component stocks of the KLSE Syariah Index (KLSE SI) in line with the updated list of approved securities issued by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission on 27 October 2006. The changes are effective 13 November 2006.

The new component stocks to be included in the KLSE SI are:

1. Alam Maritim Resources Bhd 8. Putrajaya Perdana Bhd
2. Compugates Holdings Bhd 9. Rimbunan Sawit Bhd
3. Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd 10. Sarawak Enterprise Corporation Bhd
4. Furqan Business Organisation Bhd 11. Swee Joo Bhd
5. Inch Kenneth Kajang Rubber PLC 12. Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd
6. Malpac Holdings Bhd 13. TH Plantation Bhd
7. Pan Malaysia Holdings Bhd 1 1 4. Warisan TC Holdings Bhd

The component stocks to be removed from the KLSE SI are:

1. Intan Utilities Bhd 4. PK Resources Bhd
2. Mechmar Corporation (M) Bhd 5. Riverview Rubber Estate Bhd
3. Nexnews Bhd 6. Selangor Properties Bhd


The KLSE SI is a weighted-average index with its components made up of Main Board companies designated as Syariah approved securities by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission. With the latest update, there are now 521 Main Board approved securities which form the components of the KLSE SI.

The KLSE SI was launched on 17 April 1999 to meet the increasing demand by local and foreign investors seeking to invest in securities and instruments which are in line with Syariah principles.
