POC has established itself as the leading global gathering of palm oil players including decision-makers, thought leaders and international delegates to deliberate on the industry’s most pressing issues, allowing them to respond to challenges and discover opportunities that influence the supply and demand of vegetable oils.
This year’s conference, themed ‘Manage Uncertainties, Harvest Global Opportunities’, will be officiated by the Minister of Primary Industries, Yang Berhormat Puan Teresa Kok. Bursa Malaysia further emphasises its position as the leading benchmark for edible oils and the world’s price discovery marketplace for palm oil at POC2019 as it continues to enhance its suites of derivatives products such as Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) and Crude Palm Oil Options (OCPO) contracts, providing global solutions in managing risks and market uncertainties.
Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift said, “Over the last three decades, POC has played an integral role in promoting innovation and sustainable growth within the global oils and fats industry. At the Exchange, we strive to continuously improve the ecosystem, introduce enhancements to products and provide industry players more trading opportunities that will allow them to navigate better on the volatility in the industry.”
“Moving forward, we will ensure that our initiatives such as traceability document requirements that was introduced last year will attract a greater diversity of market participants and further strengthen the FCPO contract towards a sustainable palm oil industry and marketplace,” he added.
Datuk Muhamad Umar added, “POC2019 comes at an opportune time in bringing engaging conversations among industry experts in view of uncertainties within the industry over the past year including global trade tensions and imbalanced supply and demand, among others. We are optimistic in discovering positive solutions together as we continuously evolve with innovative strategies to tackle industry challenges.”
