Dato' Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Berhad said, "The sharp drop that triggered the circuit breaker this afternoon may be attributed to the market's reaction to the 12th General Election results and the sharp decline in the US market last Friday.
Our market fundamentals remain strong and we are optimistic that investors will not hold back investments."
This afternoon, a few problems occurred upon the trigger of the circuit breaker halt. During the halt, trades continued to match on 20 counters. These trades were subsequently cancelled. Upon resumption of trading, additional system message link requirements resulted in several brokers experiencing delays in making orders and receiving confirmation of orders and trades.
The Exchange is actively exploring measures to prevent these issues from occurring in the future.
