Bursa Malaysia was awarded the Recognition Award for a Public Organisation that has Supported and Contributed Towards the Malaysia Venture Capital & Private Equity Industry by the Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MVCA) yesterday.
The award was given to the Exchange in view of its efforts to facilitate better access to capital for high growth companies listed on the ACE market. Listing on the ACE Market now covers a broader perspective in terms of business breadth, instead of only covering high growth technology-based companies via the Mesdaq board previously. This move has resulted in a more fluid Malaysian venture capital industry, where capital can be flowed more easily.
Bursa Malaysia's Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Yusli Mohamed Yusoff said, "It is an honour for us at Bursa Malaysia to be acknowledged by the Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association as it is our duty to ensure that capital raising is efficient and effective for all business sectors. We also hope to see more high-growth companies coming on board the ACE Market through our collaboration with MVCA.
"The restructuring of boards from the Main, Second and Mesdaq markets to the current Main and ACE Markets was to allow more high growth companies to expand their potential in our market, hence leading to opportunities for emerging businesses to flourish in Malaysia," he added.
The MVCA Award recognises and appreciates efforts by companies to support new businesses or projects by entrepreneurs and high growth companies. These efforts have encouraged the growth in the venture capital and private equity industry amongst emerging private companies in Malaysia.
