Bursa Malaysia RAM Capital Launches Secondary Market For Its Debt Fundraising And Investment Platform

Date 09/12/2024

Bursa Malaysia RAM Capital Sdn Bhd (“BR Capital”), a joint venture entity between Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) and RAM Holdings Berhad (“RAM”), is pleased to announce the launch of a secondary market for its debt fundraising and investment platform (“Platform”).

The secondary market, which goes live today, enables investors to buy or sell investment notes that were issued on BR Capital’s Platform. This effectively provides flexibility and liquidity to investors after the initial issuance or subscription of the investment notes, as well as contributes to refined price discovery and optimisation of investment strategies.

This initiative empowers investors with greater choice in managing their investments, as part of BR Capital's commitment to creating a comprehensive debt fundraising and investment platform and promoting a vibrant investment environment.

“We are committed to providing a robust investment experience through BR Capital. By offering a secondary market, we are enhancing the liquidity and flexibility of our investment notes,” said Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, and Chairman of BR Capital. “This represents a significant step forward in our goal to continuously empower investors with more product choices that meet their needs, for active and effective investment portfolio management.”

Chris Lee, Group CEO and Executive Director of RAM, and a Director of BR Capital, added,  “The rollout of a secondary market on BR Capital’s Platform is a testament to our dedication to innovation and investor-centric solutions. We believe this will greatly benefit our investors by providing them with more options to manage their portfolios, in line with their credit risk appetite and ESG preferences.”

BR Capital was launched in December 2023 to enable both listed and unlisted companies to tap into a fresh pool of capital outside of traditional wholesale markets. It offers a new avenue of fundraising for issuers, while simultaneously providing fixed income investment opportunities to individual and institutional investors.

The minimum investment for each investment notes campaign is one lot, which is equivalent to only RM100. For further information, visit https://brc.bursamalaysia.com/.
