Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia”) today officially launched Bursa Anywhere, a new mobile APP that allows individual investors to access a wide range of central depository services (“CDS”) anywhere, anytime. Bursa Anywhere is the first-of-its-kind mobile depository services in ASEAN and second only in Asia, after Taiwan.
Surrounded by Malaysian stockbroking community leaders, Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift said, “As mobile devices play an increasingly important role in everyday life, Bursa Anywhere is our latest tool that will fulfil investors needs on the go, anytime, anywhere, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We aim to deliver a remarkable in-your-hands experience to the nearly 2 million CDS account holders, providing the needed access to information, movements and trends that can open up new possibilities for them.”
Datuk Umar continued, “In line with our tagline “Creating Opportunities, Growing Value”, we are committed to providing solutions that can further connect and help create an impact in our marketplace. Bursa Anywhere will become the one place for retail investors to go and manage all things to their CDS accounts. It will provide investors with a seamless experience that will not only facilitate their efficiency but also usher in a new era of empowerment and control. We will continue to enhance our digital touchpoints and look forward to providing more innovative platforms that will collectively help grow the wealth of our nation.”
Now, investors on Bursa Malaysia who register on Bursa Anywhere can do the following on their smart devices:
- view the balance shareholdings in all their direct CDS accounts with marked to market value;
- access and download statement of accounts for the past 12 months;
- update specified depositors’ particulars; and
- receive notifications in relation to their shareholdings such as announcement on entitlements.
Chairman of the Association of Stockbroking Companies of Malaysia, Dato’ Ahmad Azman Abdul Manaf stated, “Bursa Malaysia is the first exchange in ASEAN to provide this advanced level of CDS services directly to investors via their smartphones. Investors will be able to speedily and accurately view the market value of their consolidated equities portfolios to make wise investment decisions.”
Chairman of MIBA Stockbroking Committee Mr Lok Eng Hong stated, “By providing this service to investors on Bursa Malaysia, we have created a very interconnected market among investors, the exchange and brokers. Mobile access is a must, and it is exciting to see the Malaysian stockbroking industry leading the way in ASEAN with a mobile-first mindset.”
The launch of the CDS eServices via Bursa Anywhere is Bursa Malaysia’s latest proposition that is easily accessible, convenient and efficient, which will accord depositors with a seamless and personalised experience when accessing their CDS account information or performing CDS account management. This initiative is also in line with Bursa Malaysia’s aspiration to promote better sustainability practices through digitisation and further encourages the industry to embrace digital transformation as a whole.
Bursa Anywhere is available to download from Google Play and Apple App Store and can be used by individual depositors upon registration of the service.
