Bursa Malaysia hosted the 27th Asian and Oceanian Stock Exchanges Federation (AOSEF) General Assembly which witnessed a gathering of leaders and experts from the securities and derivatives industry from the Asian and Oceanic region. The annual AOSEF General Assembly, which was held in Kuala Lumpur this year, saw member exchanges share updates and experiences as well as gain from the collective views on ways of developing the markets within the Asian and Oceanic region.
Among the topics discussed at the AOSEF General Assembly were issues relating to markets with multiple exchanges and sustainable investment issues.
Chairman of Bursa Malaysia, Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin Hj Abdullah, who delivered a keynote address at this Assembly, said, “Exchanges must keep abreast with changes and challenges in the capital market industry in order to ensure sustainable competitiveness. AOSEF is an apt platform for discussion of pertinent issues to ensure that the AOSEF members remain relevant in the coming decades.
“To this end, AOSEF, which facilitates information exchange and mutual assistance among its members, plays a very important role in the development of the capital markets in the region,” Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin added.
Amongst the exchanges which attended the Assembly were the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Osaka Securities Exchange, JASDAQ Securities Exchange, Korea Exchange, Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Taiwan Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, National Stock Exchange of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, Philippine Stock Exchange, Stock Exchange of Thailand, Singapore Exchange, Indonesia Stock Exchange, Australian Stock Exchange, Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, Mongolian Stock Exchange as well as Bursa Malaysia.
Participants were also treated to a tour of historical Malacca as well as a friendly golf game at the Royal Selangor Golf Club.
